How to upgrade your casual outfit

Casual outfits are not really my thing. My motto is usually “there is no such thing as being overdressed”. I usually wear skirts and dresses at the office on a daily basis, even though my colleagues are dressed in the typical uniform consisting of jeans and T-shirt. Of course, even I have occasions that requre a comfortable outfit. Just like last Sunday for a visit of Castle Charlottenburg. In the past I had a hard time to find an outfit that was not chic office wear. Most of the time I just grabbed jeans and a T-shirt. But I never felt comfortable in this outfit as it is just not my style. By now, I have adopted some tricks that help to upgrade my casual outfits without loosing any of its practicality.  Technically speaking, today’s outfit is just a comfortable outfit consisting of jeans, T-shirt and sneakers. However, it’s the small details that make, in my opinion, the difference and take care that this outfit is far from boring.

My tips how you can upgrade your casual outfit:

1. Complete your outfit with a 3rd piece – Have you also noticed how incomplete an outfit seems that only consists of 2 pieces, like jeans and T-shirt? I added the camisole as a 3rd piece to today’s outfit. But you can also add a veste or jacket and your outfit will instantly seem complete and more fashionable. The 3rd piece doesn’t have to be a garment. Eye-catching accessories such as necklaces, scarves and shoes can do the same job.
2. Add matching accessories – Accessories are our best friends when it comes to upgrade any outfit. Currently, I’m a big fan of bandanas (I’m sure that you have already notice 😉 ). But any type of scarf will work. Also a nice necklace or a pair of statement earrings is enough to lift your outfit to the next level.
3. Prints instead of solids – As a huge fan of stripes, I’m sure that stripes can upgrade any outfit as well as make it look more fashionable. Of course, other prints such as classic checks or feminine floral prints can fulfill this task also and ensure that your casual outfit will not be boring at all.
4. Use colourful accents – Small colourful accents like my red bandana add an eyecatcher to any outfit and make sure that your outfit will not be boring. Colourful accents look best when added to monochrome outfits. One or two colourful accents are more than enough to give your outfit a fashionable upgrade.
