As I have already “threatened” in my sewing list, there is yet another striped top. This is one was made using one of my tried and true patterns.
Pattern: #112 Burda Februar 2010
Level of difficulty: Easy
Sewing time incl. cutting: Around 3 hours.
Costs: I bought this viscose jersey at the infamous Maybachufer in Berlin for 3 €/m and only needed 1 m for this top. I already used this fabric for this striped top and still have enough left for another top.
Pattern review: Very easy to sew, only the stripe matching took some time. The pattern fits perfectly, only the sleeves were too long and I had to shorten them by 3 cm.
Pattern modification: I shortened the sleeves by 3 cm since they were way too long. For finishing the neckline, I simply folded the seam allowance to the inside and topstitched it with the twin needle. This is much quicker and less bulky than the neck finishing with a bias tape folded to the inside proposed by Burda.
Conclusion: This top can be sewn very fast and only needs little fabric. The boatneck is also very nice. This pattern is perfect for sewing basics and I will definitely use it again.
Liebe Julia!
Julia
